How We Started
Truth Tabernacle Church was
established through joint effort of Filipino Evangelism Ministries - Home
Missions Division and Central Canadian District, UPCI to reach the emerging
rate of 40 to 60 thousand Filipinos living in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Last February 17,1998, Pastor Jesse Fortaleza and family finally arrived to
answer God's call to come to Winnipeg to start the first Filipino Apostolic
Church. There was also a great anticipation to an active group of Filipinos
who are willing and committed to help establish the work.
On the afternoon of March 22,1998, we held our first Sunday Service in
Keewatin Suite 10 and were attended by 56 people. This facility quickly
became too crowded that the congregation decided to move to a bigger place
in Sherbrook, Bethel Tabernacle Church through the kind and generosity of
Pastor and Sis. Charles Keifling to share their space to the congregation
for a while.
Some other activities and meetings such as Bible Studies and Prayer Meetings
were conducted and held in private homes. It took several months before we
moved to another place in Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Leila Avenue
pastored by Rev. Clifford Heaslip in which we conducted all of our church
activities regularly for more than two years.
As weeks and months passed, the nucleus of believers bonded together in
prayer and fasting, amazing miracles have been witnessed. Not only does the
Filipino culture love the natural fellowship, but also spiritually they
delight in the communion and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
Finally, the Lord open the door of blessings and opportunities to us to
purchase our very own facility, a church building that located at 88 Juno
St. Praise be to God! We are still looking forward for a greater revival and
harvest of souls this year and for the years to come. Our Vision goes on! We
give God all the glory!
Don't watch us grow, GROW with us! Truth Tabernacle Church welcomes you.
